The following data is the result of portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) analyses to geological chert samples from southern Portugal, central Portugal and southern Spain, and archaeological chert samples from the Upper Palaeolithic sequence of the archaeological site of Vale Boi (southern Portugal). Data was acquired using the equipment Bruker Titan S1 to geological chert samples from the Algarve region (LJW, MJE, UJE, UJW, TW) [1], central Portugal from the LusoLit lithotheque (CPT) [2], cherts from the Universidad de Cadiz lithotheque (UCA), and archaeological samples organised by chert type [3].
A Bruker portable XRF Titan S1 was used in a laboratory benchtop setup, powered by battery (with up to 25% battery charge before being replaced by a fully charged battery). The standard databases available in the equipment from Bruker were employed: Geochem application and the Dual Mining method. All samples were measured to guarantee size and morphology homogeneity with possible impact on the pXRF results.

The results from the pXRF analysis using the Bruker Titan S1 are included in a single file (pXRF_data.csv). Results are organised by row, and present elemental abundance and error for each sample. Samples are identified through the Sample_ID variable, following the identifier used in the database, accessed online at https://lusolit.icarehb.com/list.php and published by Belmiro (2023). This same identifier connects the pXRF results with the measurements contained in the file pXRF_measurements.csv.
